Q - Why do I need a Review?

A - Businesses rarely believe they are overpaying their local municipal taxes; our positive results come as a total surprise to many of our clients. Today’s accounting staff are often working under very hectic conditions, and very few have expertise in local tax issues. Our free review process gives you the advantage of having four years city/county tax liabilities studied by our abatement specialists who focus entirely on local tax matters. We know first-hand how these same tax matters are handled across the Commonwealth and know what refund possibilities exist for your particular industry. It’s a win-win situation for your company because our fee is earned via a contingency arrangement whereby you pay nothing if we do not recover a tax reduction for you.

Q - Why can’t I just file for a refund myself?

A - Certainly you can; but if you are not familiar with the variables involved, you may not get the full refund you are entitled to. The tax officials don’t voluntarily correct erroneous information supplied to them, and most tax overpayments are due to mistakes that the taxpayer doesn’t know exists.

Q - How is it that my company deserves a refund?

A - Virginia law allows erroneous assessments to be corrected for a three-year (prior) period plus the current tax year. There are dozens of reasons that your tax bill may be inflated which usually go unnoticed by routine tax filings - only our expertise in abatement brings these possibilities to the forefront.

Q - What if I have underpaid rather than overpaid?

A - This is very rare, but when it does occur, we simply notify you of the situation. Further action is at your discretion.

Q - Isn’t this just nickels and dimes, and probably not worthy of my staff’s time and effort?

A - NO, refunds are usually substantial - in the tens of thousands for the four-year period we will address. We give you a turnkey job and your staff’s involvement is usually limited to providing us with certain back-up materials you already have on file.
